RNC chair: President Trump to lead GOP midterm ‘unity rally’

by Jason Collins

President Trump is set to feature at the inaugural midterm convention as an example of what a successful American politician who looks after his people looks like.

The idea of a midterm convention was floated by President Trump earlier this year to boost turnout in the upcoming races. According to Breitbart, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Joe Gruters said the event will give Republicans an opportunity to highlight all the good President Trump has achieved during his term.

In an appearance on Breitbart News Daily, Gruters said, “We’re doing this because in order to win, we got to try out different things, and there’s no better way than to showcase the man that’s the best showman that’s ever existed in politics, Donald J. Trump.”

According to Gruters, this convention will be more of a giant unity rally. “We have to be united as a party. We have to recruit poll workers and poll watchers and everything else, and this is just going to be what I call a Trumpalooza opportunity, and we’re going to then catapult from there to barnstorm the country with the president getting all these competitive districts, and we’re going to be well on our way to victory.”

The convention will take place in Dallas, Texas, on September 9-10. Gruter explained the thought process behind the decision about the convention dates.

He said, “Our goal and focus was — it was twofold. We wanted to make sure that we didn’t have the convention until after all the primaries were over, before any ballots went out.” For Gruter, choosing the right dates came down to a narrow window between the primaries and the general election.

In a post shared on Truth Social, President Trump shared his excitement for the event, writing, “It will be fantastic! It has never been done before, and will be a truly Historic Event. We are going to celebrate the GREAT AMERICAN COMEBACK, and the incredible successes of the American People who transformed our Country through the America First Agenda.”

While the venue has not been confirmed yet, sources within the organization told FOX 4 that organizers are considering American Airlines Center as a potential site.
