Montana Senator Steve Daines (R) recently sat for an exclusive interview with Breitbart News to discuss the importance of Republicans retaking control of the Senate in November. He warned about the party’s “radical” plans to change the country, which he said would be inevitable if Democrats remain in power.
Daines is the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), which leads the charge in helping elect the right candidates. He discussed the tight margins in the upper chamber and emphasized that the “ideological divide between Republicans and Democrats has just never been larger.”
Daines said Kamala Harris “has broken more ties as vice president than any vice president in our nation’s history.” He pointed to several instances where she was the tie-breaking vote to ram through several pieces of unpopular legislation, including the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and the $1.9 trillion stimulus package, which he called “inflationary.”
Daines pointed out that the only thing that stopped the Democrats’ mission to “nuke the filibuster” was the refusal of Sens. Joe Manchin, I-West Virginia, and Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., to go along with the plan. Both senators have since broken ties with and left the Democratic Party, but neither are running for reelection. Daines told Breitbart, “There are no more Democrats that are going to stand to protect the filibuster,” which would enable the party to vote for Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood and nearly guarantee four additional Democratic senators.
The Montana senator said, “They will also move the Supreme Court from nine to thirteen Justices. They will pack the court. And last, they will pass one of their favorite bills – the left – and that’s the federal takeover of all the elections.”
Daines emphasized, “Our Founding Fathers feared concentration of power,” noting that the “bill would remove any voter ID laws that states have passed” and that they would employ “all mail-in ballots” and allow weeks for the results to be finalized. He said the legislation “would make it very difficult to ever get a center-right government elected in Washington again.”
Daines said he had implemented a strategy to shift control back to the Republicans by finding candidates that unite the Party and lead them to victory.
He told Breitbart, “We’ve got to find candidates working with President Trump that can win not only primary elections but general elections.” He pointedly remarked, “Look, winners make policy. Losers go home.”
Daines urged voters to read California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff’s plan for the Party once he is elected to the Senate in November. He told Breitbart, “He telegraphed this in writing earlier this year. So that’s their strategy. We cannot let them succeed and that’s why we have to get at least 51 Republicans in the United States Senate in January of 2025.”
