Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has threatened to bring action against U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland if recent whistleblower testimony against the DOJ proves to be true, he said on Fox News.

He explained, “By July 6, because of the allegations from the IRS, because of the whistleblowers and DOJ and Garland…if it comes true what the IRS whistleblower[s] are saying, we’re going to start impeachment inquiries on the attorney general.”

According to Politico, new whistleblower testimony released by the House Ways and Means Committee revealed that the Justice Department and the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office allegedly “went out of their way to hamper an IRS investigation of Hunter Biden’s taxes by consistently slow walking the case, preventing enforcement actions by the IRS and tipping off actions related to the investigation to Biden’s attorneys in advance…”

Speaker McCarthy reiterated his stance on the issue on Twitter, writing, “We need to get to the facts, and that includes reconciling these clear disparities. U.S. Attorney David Weiss must provide answers to the House Judiciary Committee. If the whistleblowers’ allegations are true, this will be a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry into Merrick Garland’s weaponization of DOJ.”

As previously reported by RSBN, IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley had revealed during June testimony that search warrants and criminal charges for the president’s son were allegedly blocked by prosecutors.

He stated in his testimony, “Any other case I ever worked, if they were like there’s a storage unit with documents from the business and personal documents in relation to the years under investigation — the risk was zero, because it’s on a storage unit, it’s not on a residence — there’s no prosecutor I’ve ever worked with that wouldn’t say, go get those documents.”

Last week, Speaker McCarthy broke down the takeaway points from the IRS whistleblower testimony last week, noting:

“Here’s what we just learned from IRS whistleblower testimony:

– The IRS gave Hunter Biden’s tax case preferential treatment

– The DOJ interfered with the investigation at every turn

– The IRS retaliated against those very whistleblowers for telling the truth[.]”

He concluded, “Our committees will continue to follow every lead into the Biden family’s shady business dealings and the weaponized Biden DOJ. The American people deserve answers and accountability.”
