Steve Bannon, “War Room” host and former advisor to President Donald Trump, will be headed back to court in November 2023 to face trial for charges that he defrauded contributors, according to a report from Bloomberg.
In early September, Bannon was indicted on multiple charges, including money laundering, scheme to defraud, and conspiracy through his “We Build the Wall” campaign, as previously reported by RSBN.
Bannon was previously found guilty by a jury of contempt for defying a congressional subpoena earlier this summer.
According to a report from Yahoo, Bannon has pleaded not guilty on all counts, but this is not the first time he has faced charges for personal conduct related to money handling. In 2020, federal prosecutors went after Bannon on similar charges, but President Donald Trump pardoned him.
Now, Bannon is facing state charges in New York, brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James and District Attorney Alvin Bragg, per RSBN.
In the previous federal case, Yahoo reported that one of two other men charged with fraud allegedly admitted to pocketing thousands of dollars in the “We Build the Wall” project.
Although Bannon will not have to face trial until next year, he is set to face sentencing for this past summer’s guilty verdict on charges of contempt on Oct. 21. According to RSBN, Bannon could be sentenced to up to two years in federal prison.
Jack Posobiec, a conservative commentator and Senior Editor for Human Events, reported on Twitter on Tuesday that Bannon had arrived at the New York Supreme Court to find out when his trial would be.
“He told reporters: ‘We’re going to destroy the Democrat Party as a national political institution,’” Posobiec stated.
