The Jan. 6 public hearing is nothing more than political theater

The Jan. 6 Select Committee will convene its first public hearing on Thursday, June 9, 2022. While members of the committee assert that the evidence will establish a coordinated effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election, Americans should brush aside this claim.

In doing so, Americans should see this hearing as nothing more than political theater and a desperate attempt by the Democrats to sway public opinion against Republicans and to pin the events of Jan. 6 on President Donald Trump.

According to a statement released by the committee:

“The committee will present previously unseen material documenting January 6th, receive witness testimony, preview additional hearings, and provide the American people a summary of its findings of the coordinated, multi-step effort to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and prevent the transfer of power.”

The partisan committee is comprised of seven Democrats and two “Never Trumper” Republicans. From its inception, the committee has been obsessed with their witch hunt against President Trump.

Toward that pursuit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently arrested former White House economic adviser Peter Navarro for refusing to testify before the committee. Navarro was subsequently indicted, a move that Alan Dershowitz called unconstitutional.

While the committee’s goal is clear, Republicans, including President Donald Trump, plan to push back against what House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., referred to as a “circus” and “political witch hunt.”

According to Stefanik:

“We’re working very closely with President Trump and his team with Leader Kevin McCarthy, with Jim Jordan, and really all of the House Republicans will be pushing back in a rapid response fashion.”

“You will see us all over the airwaves, we will be setting the record straight. We will be telling the truth to the American people sharing the facts and also really pointing out how unprecedented and unconstitutional and illegitimate this committee is.”

Stefanik, another target of the committee, noted it has also targeted everyday citizens, including staffers who worked on the Trump campaign during its “investigation.”

While the highly partisan committee has focused on Republicans and those associated with President Trump, it has turned a blind eye to other possible causes and factors leading up to the events of Jan. 6.

As Stefanik told Breitbart News Saturday, Nancy Pelosi’s office “is the only one off limits and that she bears responsibility for the security posture.” Stefanik was referring to various Jan. 6 security-related documents and communications, which Pelosi has seemingly failed to turn over. Stefanik continued, “And if they want to provide excuses, which is what they always do to push back in the media, then turn over the documents. Where are the documents? Where the communications, Nancy? Until she does that, we know that she bears responsibility.”

The New York congresswoman was not the only one criticizing the committee’s upcoming hearing. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was also critical and tweeted:

“Americans are suffering from out of control inflation & gas prices, high crime, no baby formula, & open border causing record fentanyl deaths.

Dems think people care about J6 after Dems caused violent riots w/ $2+ B in damage all over the US in ‘20.

Yeah.

Dig that hole deeper.”

Richard Grenell, former Acting Director of National Intelligence, echoed such sentiment, tweeting, “The January 6th hearings are politicians’ focusing on their own security. There are no televised hearings on school security or gas prices.”

While the public hearing will begin on Thursday, Americans should view the hearing as nothing more than political theater. Democrats engaged in similar theatrics when they impeached President Trump. Despite their efforts to remove the president at the time, Democrats miserably failed.

Like those efforts, the committee’s measures to portray Trump as the person who planned the events on Jan. 6 should also fail.

As reported by The Washington Times, a former top adviser to the House committee investigating the events of Jan. 6, 2021, recently said that there was no “smoking gun” indicating that President Trump planned to have his supporters overrun the U.S. Capitol.
