Rumors abound that former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley intends to run for president in 2024. Haley is expected to make this announcement in Charleston, South Carolina, on Feb. 15.

President Donald Trump weighed in on Haley’s anticipated announcement. In a post on Truth Social, he stated, “Nikki has to follow her heart, not her honor. She should definitely run!” Trump’s use of the term “honor” is a likely reference to Haley’s previous comments, where she specifically stated that she would not run for president if President Trump decided to run in 2024.

Despite Haley’s promise not to challenge President Trump in 2024, she recently told Sean Hannity:

“It is time for a new generation. It is time for more leadership. It is time for the fact that we really start to take our country back. We cannot have another term of Joe Biden. And we have to remember, too, we have lost the last seven out of eight popular votes for president. It is time that we get a Republican in there that can lead and can win a general election.”

As reported by Newsweek, Haley also told Hannity that candidates do not “need to be 80 years old to go be a leader in D.C.”

Notwithstanding Haley’s anticipated presidential run, her odds of defeating President Trump to secure the Republican presidential nomination appear to be extremely low. According to Newsweek, recent Morning Consult and McLaughlin & Associates polls reflect that Haley has the support of only three percent of likely/potential Republican primary voters. Trump, on the other hand, is well ahead of Haley and all other potential Republican challengers for the Republican presidential nomination.
