President Donald Trump announced a key endorsement on Monday of Virginia Republican Senate candidate Hung Cao.

Trump shared his complete support for Cao in a Truth Social post in favor of the Commonwealth State’s frontrunner in the GOP’s effort to flip the Senate in November.

“Hung Cao is a highly respected retired Navy Captain running to represent the Great People of Virginia in the United States Senate,” the 45th president stated in his social media post.

“A Combat Veteran and Highly Decorated Special Operations Officer, Hung Cao will be a tireless fighter to Stop Inflation, Lower Taxes, Grow our Economy, Secure our Border, Strongly Support our Incredible Military/Vets, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” he continued.

Trump’s endorsement comes as Virginia voters head to the ballot box in Tuesday’s primary voting.

“Hung Cao has my Complete and Total Endorsement – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN, AND WE WILL, AT THE SAME TIME, GET RID OF THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY, CROOKED JOE BIDEN. VIRGINIA, GET OUT AND VOTE FOR HUNG CAO TOMORROW!” he concluded.

Trump previously revealed his support for Hao in May, urging Virginia voters to support the retired Navy captain. Cao took to X on Sunday to thank Trump for his endorsement.

“I’m honored to receive an endorsement from the 45th and 47th President of the United States Donald Trump!” he wrote.

Cao has raised over $2 million in his campaign, more than doubling his two closest GOP challengers, according to the Virginia Public Access Project, including Club for Growth President Scott Parkinson and attorney Jonathan Emord.

The Trump endorsee is noted as strongly pro-life and is known for his adamant support of Second Amendment rights. However, Cao faces a strong battle if he wins the primary, as he will face incumbent Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine who is running unopposed in his reelection effort.

The Virginia Senate matchup could serve as a pivotal campaign in a state Trump is seeking to turn red. The state elected Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin in 2021 as the first GOP leader of the state since Gov. Bob McDonnell in 2009.

His victory was also complemented by the election of Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears and Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares.
