President Donald Trump blasted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., for acting as a “pawn” for the Democrat Party in a scathing rebuke Wednesday on Truth Social.

Trump’s latest criticism of McConnell comes amid an ongoing feud between the 45th president and the highest ranking Republican in the Senate. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, “The Democrats have Mitch McConnell and his lovely wife, Elaine ‘Coco’ Chao, over a barrel.”

Trump said the Democrat Party will not oppose McConnell “as long as he continues to give the Radical Left the Trillions and Trillions of Dollars that they constantly DEMAND.”

For months, the 45th president has blamed the senator for failing to push back against the devastating policies of the Biden administration, compromising on the debt ceiling, and allowing the Democrats to push their endless spending packages through the Senate.

“He was afraid to use the ‘Debt Ceiling Card’ in order to stop the most expensive waste of money in our Country’s history, to be spent on the Green New Deal, which will only cause one thing, a Depression,” Trump warned.

Trump said the nation would be unable to recover from the left’s multi-trillion dollar spending packages. While Trump has blamed Democrats for passing legislation he believes will inflict irreparable harm on the nation, he also has made it clear that he holds McConnell as partially responsible.

“Mitch McConnell is not an Opposition Leader, he is a pawn for the Democrats to get whatever they want,” Trump said. “He is afraid of them, and will not do what has to be done.”

Trump’s comments come just days after the Senate minority leader appeared to take a shot at Trump-endorsed candidates by claiming that “candidate quality” could jeopardize chances of the Republican Party taking control of the Senate in the November midterm elections.

According to NBC News, McConnell said, “I think there’s probably a greater likelihood the House flips than the Senate. Senate races are just different — they’re statewide, candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.”

Soon after McConnell’s statements began circulating in the news, the 45th president responded by rebuking the Senate minority leader for turning on his own party.

“Why do Republicans Senators allow a broken down hack politician, Mitch McConnell, to openly disparage hard working Republican candidates for the United States Senate,” Trump said. “This is such an affront to honor and to leadership. He should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected, and less time helping his crazy wife and family get rich on China!”

Trump concluded his comments Wednesday by renewing his suggestion that the Republican Party needs a new Senate minority leader. “A new Republican Leader in the Senate should be picked immediately!” he said.
