On Wednesday, President Donald Trump issued a statement on Truth Social blasting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his record in the Sunshine State.
In the statement, Trump referred to DeSantis as a “disciple” of Paul Ryan who did whatever Ryan told him to do. He also stated that DeSantis received 1.2 million fewer votes than he did.
Most of the statement attacked the governor’s record in Florida. According to Trump, DeSantis fought for massive cuts in Social Security and Medicare and wanted to raise the minimum age for Social Security to at least 70.
Trump also attacked the governor’s response to Covid, calling him a “Lockdown Governor” who sealed off beaches and “everything else” for an extended period of time.
According to Trump, Florida was the third worst in the nation in Covid deaths, third worst in the total number of Covid cases, and had a higher Covid death rate than New York. Other governors, according to Trump, handled Covid much better than DeSantis.
President Trump also attacked DeSantis on other issues. According to Trump, Florida ranks amongst the worst in the country in education, and third worst in the country in murder, rape, and aggravated assault. Trump also noted that Florida was 39th in health and safety, 50th in affordability, and 30th in education and childcare.
In his statement, Trump praised the governor’s public relations efforts, which he called a mirage.
Trump referred to DeSantis as an average governor based on the facts and figures and stated, “We don’t want Ron as our President.”
