Following Joe Biden’s first appearance at the southern border since taking office, President Donald Trump released a scathing statement condemning Biden’s vast border failures.

“Biden’s open border policies are a deadly betrayal of our nation,” President Trump said in a press release Tuesday before listing the successful border policies he implemented that Biden ditched upon entering the White House.

Supporting that statement, the press release says the Biden administration suspended border wall construction, sought to halt deportations for 100 days, and implement catch-and-release. Biden also ended Trump’s historic “Remain in Mexico” policy that was in place to limit the influx of illegal migrants at the border.

The release also notes that the actions taken by Biden have brought absolute chaos to the border with illegal crossings peaking in 2021 and 2022.

“Fueled in large part by Biden’s border crisis, fentanyl has become the leading cause of death for Americans between ages 18 and 45,” Trump’s statement reads. “Biden’s open borders have also created a humanitarian crisis. Migrant deaths at the border last year reached a record-high of over 800, and human smuggling arrests are up 82% since 2014.”

The 45th president’s remarks come amid Biden’s recent visit to El Paso, Texas, marking his first trip to the border as president.

“Your visit to our southern border with Mexico today is $20 billion too little and two years too late,” Gov. Gregg Abbott, R-Texas, wrote in a letter he hand-delivered to Biden while greeting him on the tarmac of the El Paso International Airport Sunday, as reported by RSBN.

“Your open-border policies have emboldened the cartels, who grow wealthy by trafficking deadly fentanyl and even human beings,” the letter stated before demanding Biden take specific actions to regain control of the border. “Texans are paying an especially high price for your failure, sometimes with their very lives, as local leaders from your own party will tell you if given the chance.”

Furthermore, Abbott praised President Trump’s border policies, writing that the federal government was able to see “historically low levels of illegal immigration” under his administration.

Trump’s Tuesday press release also highlighted the administration’s accomplishments, such as building 450 miles of the border wall, ending catch and release, tackling human smuggling, and deploying 5,000 troops to the border.

As Trump embarks on the campaign trail, he plans to “wage war on the cartels and create the strongest border in history, just like we had two years ago,” the press release adds.
