Pam Bondi was approved as the nation’s next General Attorney on Tuesday, with President Donald Trump taking to social media to congratulate her.
Trump posted his reaction to his Truth Social account early Wednesday, offering strong praise for her background and future work in the role.
“Congratulations to our wonderful and very talented United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, who gets sworn in today amid tremendous support, and the respect of ALL!” Trump wrote.
“I know Pam well, it was an honor to appoint her, and my prediction is that she will go down as one of the best and most consequential Attorney Generals in the history of our Country. Congratulations Pam, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he added.
Bondi previously served two terms as Florida’s chief legal officer. She succeeded the president’s previous nomination of former Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, who withdrew his candidacy for the role.
“I am proud to announce former Attorney General of the Great State of Florida, Pam Bondi, as our next Attorney General of the United States. Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on Violent Criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida Families. Then, as Florida’s first female Attorney General, she worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl Overdose Deaths, which have destroyed many families across our Country. She did such an incredible job, that I asked her to serve on our Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission during my first Term — We saved many lives!” Trump wrote at the time.
“For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans – Not anymore. Pam will refocus the DOJ to its intended purpose of fighting Crime, and Making America Safe Again. I have known Pam for many years — She is smart and tough, and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter, who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!” he continued.
Several Republican lawmakers spoke highly of Bondi ahead of her Senate confirmation.
“Pam Bondi is a longtime prosecutor& effectively led FL large AttyGeneral’s office for 8yrs She is well regarded& experienced I got to know her during 1st Trump term when Trump signed 1st crim justice reform in a generation Will learn more as we vet her nom in judic Cmte,” Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley wrote on X.
Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley echoed Grassley’s encouragement in his own post to X.
“Congrats to my friend @PamBondi! She’ll be a fabulous AG. Now we need a new Church Commission to investigate the abuses of DOJ & FBI – the persecution of Trump & conservatives, the spying on Christians, the targeting of prolifers. I will lead the charge in the Senate. And I know Pam Bondi will be a fantastic partner in this effort to CLEAN UP the FBI & DOJ,” he stated.
