During an interview with the NY Post, President Trump reflected on the attempted assassination in Butler, PA, on July 13, 2024, revealing details about the Secret Service snipers’ kill shot on Thomas Matthew Crooks.
“They took him out with one shot right between the eyes,” the 45th president told the New York Post.
President Trump dodged death at the rally in Butler, PA, when he turned his head to look at the screen with the immigration statistics instead of looking directly at the crowd when a bullet from an AR-15 pierced the side of his ear. His slight head turn saved his life.
The attempt on his life happened in mere seconds, with the Secret Service swiftly pushing him down amid the gunshots. The iconic photo of him pumping his fist in the air, blood on his face, remains a symbol of bravery and courage as he urged the crowd to “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT.”
Recalling the historic picture to the NY Post, President Trump said, “A lot of people say it’s the most iconic photo they’ve ever seen. Usually, you have to die to have an iconic picture. I just wanted to keep speaking, but I had just been shot.”
He further reflected upon the surreal experience when the doctor, after giving him a clean bill of health, expressed amazement by saying, “he’s never seen anyone survive getting hit by an AR-15.”
This image will become a defining moment in President Trump’s reelection campaign, symbolizing his role as a fighter for the American people.
