President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind Arizona Republican Rep. Abe Hamadeh, endorsing the Arizona lawmaker for re-election just months into his first term in Congress.
Trump posted his endorsement early Monday on Truth Social, calling Hamadeh “an America First Patriot.”
“Congressman Abe Hamadeh is an America First Patriot who is doing a fantastic job representing Arizona’s 8th Congressional District!” the president wrote.
“A Brave U.S. Army Veteran, and former Criminal Prosecutor, Abe is fighting tirelessly to Secure our now VERY Secure (Record Setting!) Southern Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes, Strengthen our Military/Vets, Safeguard our Elections, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment,” he continued.
“Abe Hamadeh has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump concluded.
The endorsement marks Trump’s continued backing of Hamadeh, whom he initially endorsed ahead of Arizona’s 8th Congressional District GOP primary in December 2023. In a surprise move last year, Trump also issued a dual endorsement of both Hamadeh and GOP rival Blake Masters shortly before the primary, with Hamadeh ultimately winning the seat.
Since taking office, Hamadeh has attracted national attention for his efforts to restrict non-governmental symbols from being displayed in the U.S. Capitol. In February, he introduced a resolution limiting the types of flags that may be exhibited in House facilities. The measure allows for the display of the American flag, state flags adjacent to members’ offices and flags of visiting foreign dignitaries during official visits.
“Congress is supposed to embody the AMERICAN people,” Hamadeh wrote on social media earlier this month. “That’s why I’ve introduced a resolution to ban foreign and ideological flags in the Halls of Congress. It’s pathetic that I even have to introduce this resolution.”
The resolution does not apply to flags displayed within lawmakers’ personal office spaces. According to House records, six Republicans have signed on as cosponsors, three of whom joined as original supporters when the resolution was introduced.
Hamadeh, also a former Army intelligence officer and state prosecutor, wrote a public letter to Trump on June 14 in honor of the former president’s 79th birthday and the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary.
“You have inspired me and so many other young men and women to fearlessly serve our country in our nation’s Armed Services and the halls of Congress,” Hamadeh wrote.
