President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning praised the brave B-2 pilots who pulled off a stealthy mission against Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend, slamming the “Fake News” for its poor coverage of their heroic efforts.
“The Fake News, like CNN in particular, they’re trying to say, ‘Well, I agree that it was destroyed, but maybe not that destroyed.’ You know what they’re doing? They’re really hurting great pilots that put their lives on the line,” Trump said.
He added, “CNN is scum and so is MSDNC and frankly the networks aren’t much better. It’s all Fake News.”
Over the weekend, President Trump announced that three uranium enrichment facilities in Iran had been struck by the U.S. military in “Operation Midnight Hammer,” noting that “monumental damage was done” to all nuclear sites, and further describing the destruction as “obliteration.”
On Monday, the president revealed that both Iran and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire, once again giving credit to the pilots of the B-2 stealth bombers and all those involved with dropping the infamous “bunker busters” on Iran.
“We couldn’t have made today’s ‘deal’ without the talent and courage of our great B-2 pilots, and all of those associated with that operation. In a certain and very ironic way, that perfect ‘hit,’ late in the evening, brought everyone together, and the deal was made!” he wrote.
On Tuesday morning, Trump emphasized to the press, “Those pilots hit their targets, their targets were obliterated, and the pilots should be given credit.”
The president’s comments were made while departing the White House to board Marine One, where he was headed on a scheduled trip to the Netherlands for a NATO Summit amid Middle Eastern tensions.
As of Tuesday morning, Trump stated that Iran would “never” rebuild its nuclear facilities – at least where the U.S. missiles struck underground – and again slammed cable networks as “real losers” for failing to cover the effectiveness of the operation.
