President Donald Trump recently dropped a new statement about the upcoming GOP presidential debate, where eager Republican primary candidates will face off onstage and vie for American voters’ support.
Trump, who is the leading Republican candidate across the board in 2024 GOP presidential primary polling, wrote on Truth Social, “Many people are asking whether or not I will be doing the DEBATES? ALL AMERICANS have been clamoring for a President of extremely High Intelligence. As everyone is aware, my Poll numbers, over a ‘wonderful’ field of Republican candidates, are extraordinary. In fact, I am leading the runner up, whoever that may now be, by more than 50 Points.”
Last week, the president stated during an interview on Newsmax that he would be announcing “something” regarding his decision to attend the GOP primary debates, which has been the subject of much political speculation.
Trump continued, “Reagan didn’t do it, and neither did others. People know my Record, one of the BEST EVER, so why would I Debate? I’M YOUR MAN. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The president previously revealed that he had a problem with the Republican debates based on their demand that all primary candidates sign a loyalty pledge to participate. In other words, all candidates must sign a pledge that states that they will support the winning nominee in 2024.
“I wouldn’t sign the pledge,” Trump said on Newsmax.
He also explained, “I’d LIKE to do it – I’ve actually gotten very good marks on debating talents. But, they [the people] want a smart person. They want somebody who’s going to be smart. So, we have to do the smart thing.”
The first GOP presidential debate will be held in Milwaukee next week on August 23.
