President Donald Trump stated in early December that he believed states like New York and New Jersey could be an electoral slam dunk for his campaign in 2024, bucking against what is generally expected for Republicans in traditional “blue states” amid a historic election year.
“I’m telling you, this is a place that can be won, and we have the team to do it,” President Trump said during remarks at the New York Young Republican Club’s 111th Annual Gala in 2023.
He also declared, “We’re going to WIN New Jersey…and we’re going to do a job that nobody’s been able to do.”
The president took this vow to new heights in recent comments made exclusively to Breitbart, when he promised to “make a heavy play for New York, heavy play for New Jersey, heavy play for Virginia, heavy play for New Mexico, and a heavy play for a state that hasn’t been won in years, Minnesota.”
His pledge to hit the campaign trail hard in supposed blue strongholds will translate into holding signature MAGA rallies, which have become famous for drumming up support among voters in even the unlikeliest of places.
President Trump confirmed this when he told the outlet, “I’m going to do rallies, I’m going to do speeches, I’m going to work them.”
In his interview with Breitbart, Trump even hinted that he “may rent Madison Square Garden and that’s the belly of the beast, right?”
He pointed out that illegal immigration was wearing heavily on New Yorkers’ day-to-day lives and confidently stated that he could bring in new support from voters for his candidacy in the Empire State and beyond.
When it comes to winning battleground states, Trump is already leaning handily in states like North Carolina, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Nevada, according to data examining the upcoming general election from Race to the WH.
If enough American voters are disgruntled with the state of Biden’s America in November, anything could happen.
