President Donald Trump hammered his political opponent, Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., during remarks made during a rally in Council Bluffs, Iowa, warning Iowans away from voting for a man whom the president says is anti-ethanol and anti-agricultural.
“He would be a catastrophe for our farmers of Nebraska and Iowa,” Trump told a crowd of MAGA supporters.
He added, “DeSanctus is a globalist sellout and Paul Ryan acolyte who’s in the pocket of his Wall Street donors at the Club for No Growth.”
Trump facetiously said that the “Club for No Growth” political group could also be called “Club for China Growth.”
Under a DeSantis presidency, Trump warned, “They would outsource every American farming job to a foreign country.”
The president unflinchingly slammed DeSantis for opposing his tariffs on China and opposing $28 billion in relief payments to protect American farmers.
“VERY SIMPLY, DeSanctus sided with the Communists in China – I sided with the farmers in America,” Trump remarked.
The president additionally reminded the audience that DeSantis vetoed $130 million in farm subsidies.
“Every Iowan also needs to know that Ron DeSanctus totally despises Iowa Ethanol and ethanol general…He has been fighting for YEARS to kill every single job supported by this vital industry,” Trump further cautioned.
