Trump transition team co-chairs Linda McMahon and Howard Lutnick said on Wednesday night that President-elect Donald Trump’s leadership selections will begin soon.
The two transition team leaders shared a statement just one day after Trump was projected to become the nation’s 47th president.
“Since the formation of President Trump’s transition organization and our announcement as Co-Chairs in August, we have been preparing for President Trump’s next administration. In the days and weeks ahead, President Trump will be selecting personnel to serve our nation under his leadership and enact policies that make the life of Americans affordable, safe, and secure,” they said in the statement.
“We are proud to volunteer our time to present President Trump with a wide array of experts from which he can select for his team. The American people decisively elected President Trump in a historic victory and delivered a mandate that puts the working men and women of our nation first. As he chooses the best people to join his team and best policies to pursue, his transition team will ensure the implementation of President Trump’s common sense agenda starting on Day 1,” they added.
The team’s leadership consists of five chair members, including two of Trump’s adult sons. The full list of members includes McMahon and Lutnick, both serving as co-chairs, along with Vice President-elect JD Vance, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump serving as honorary chair members.
Former Democratic presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard were later added to the transition team after endorsing Trump.
McMahon is the co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) with her husband Vince McMahon. She also previously led the pro-Trump group America First Policy Institute.
Trump Jr. and Eric Trump served as executive committee team members in 2016. Rick Dearborn, Chief of Staff to Senator Jeff Sessions, served as the previous Executive Director.
Past vice chair members in 2016 included a larger group of leaders, including Michael Flynn, Rudy Giuliani, Chris Christie, Jeff Sessions and Ben Carson, among others.
