President Trump has netted a partial win in the Manhattan-based “hush money” case in New York, where the district attorney did not oppose a 30-day delay on the trial, which was originally slated to begin on March 25 with jury selection.

According to The New York Times, Trump’s attorneys asked for a 90 day delay in the trial, so 30 days represents a partial victory for the president’s legal team in preparing for the trial.

Trump spokeswoman Steven Cheung issued the following statement:

“President Trump and his counsel have been consistent and steadfast that this case has no basis in law or fact, and should be dismissed. Today, after conceding serious discovery violations by his office, the Manhattan DA agreed to an adjournment. We will continue to fight to end this Hoax, and all of the other Crooked Joe Biden – directed Witch Hunts, once and for all.”

President Trump has accused prosecutors of violating discovery rules by withholding records, but it is unclear why the U.S attorney’s office did not turn over the 73,000 pages of documentation sooner, The Hill reported.

Per the NYT, tens of thousands of pages of new records are poised to be imminently reviewed, which is why a delay was requested. Interestingly, the outlet noted that Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the case, will also preside over the upcoming May trial for Steve Bannon, Trump’s former senior advisor.

On Truth Social, Trump commented that “the things that took place at the Manhattan D.A.’s office, in conjunction with people from the DOJ put in charge of ‘getting TRUMP’, are truly a sight to behold.”

He stated that they had “illegally withheld thousands of pages of documents.”

The development in the New York case comes on the heels of Judge McAfee’s recent ruling in Georgia to allow Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis an option to remain on the case prosecuting Trump, as long as her lover exits the team, via the NYT.
