Trump rips Biden’s East Palestine trip as an ‘insult’

Last year, a devastating train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, resulted in the release of toxic chemicals into the air, sullying water supplies, darkening the skies, and drawing the attention of Americans across the nation.

On February 22, 2023, President Donald Trump traveled to the affected area where he donated water and supplies to residents. He also met with Ohio state leaders and local leaders in the wake of the devastating tragedy.

Now, more than a year after the disaster, Trump criticized Joe Biden’s scheduled Friday trip to East Palestine, noting that it was too little, too late.

He wrote on Truth Social, “Biden should have gone there a long time ago—for him to go now is an insult to those who live and work in East Palestine, and the Great State of Ohio, itself. I can’t believe anyone wants him there?”

The theme “too little, too late” was reiterated by the Trump campaign team on social media, when they posted a campaign video with the same title, noting that it had been 378 days since the East Palestine train derailment.

The Biden administration seemed entirely absent in the wake of the disaster last year. Trump told RSBN in 2023 that had he been in office, “We would’ve had funds there. We would’ve had doctors there. We would’ve known what was happening, and we would’ve taken care of — and we would’ve consoled people.”

He continued, “They were left hopeless. The government said they’re not coming, FEMA said they’re not coming. Look, until I announced, two days ago, that I was going, they weren’t doing it.”

In his most recent comment, President Trump said that Biden “doesn’t want to be there, and even he knows he is making a mistake, because he is pandering to people who are smart, politically savvy and, unfortunately, badly hurt by Biden’s in-actions and lack of caring.”

According The Hill, Biden is visiting East Palestine via the invitation of the town’s mayor, whereby he is expected to meet with residents in the area.

“It will be so interesting to see how they meet and greet this FRAUD, and the THUGS that surround him!” Trump concluded.
