President Donald Trump once again slammed the Biden administration’s handling of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in a set of statements released Wednesday.
Trump stated, “Putin is playing Biden like a drum. It is not a pretty thing to watch!” In a second statement Wednesday, he wrote, “Our Country has totally lost its self-confidence!”
Trump’s remarks come as the Biden administration tells Americans that Putin is planning on invading Ukraine. At this time, America appears to be leading from behind rather than ahead.
In a statement released Tuesday, the 45th president wrote, “If properly handled, there was absolutely no reason that the situation currently happening in Ukraine should have happened at all.” He added, “I know Vladimir Putin very well, and he would have never done during the Trump Administration what he is doing now, no way!”
Trump explained that Russia has benefited from the Biden administration and blasted Biden’s “weak sanctions,” which he says “are insignificant relative to taking over a country and a massive piece of strategically located land.”
When asked in December about America’s level of respect under the Biden administration’s leadership, Trump responded, “I think it’s at the lowest point it’s ever been at. I don’t think it’s ever been in a position like this.” Adding, “We’re not respected anymore.”
In a recent interview on Newsmax, Trump explained how the United States did not have any difficulty with Russia during his presidency, stating, “They respected our country, and frankly, they respected our leader a year ago. This is not something that was ever going to happen.”
The 45th president has consistently pointed out the contrast between America’s strength during his presidency and America’s weakness under the Biden administration. “What’s happening with Russia and Ukraine would never have happened under the Trump Administration. Not even a possibility!” he claimed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian troops to enter Eastern Ukraine on Monday. Although he claims forces would be authorized to “maintain peace,” many fear that this action will further Russian aggression.
Fox News reported Wednesday that U.S. officials believe Russia’s troops “are as ready as they can be.” As tension continues to build, America appears to be lacking confidence as it waits to see what Putin will do next
