President Donald Trump plans to sue the Justice Department $100 million over a 2022 raid on his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, according to a new report.
The latest legal development was first shared in an exclusive Fox News report on Sunday.
“Garland and Wray should have never approved a raid and subsequent indictment of President Trump because the well-established protocol with former U.S. presidents is to use non-enforcement means to obtain records of the United States,” Trump attorney Daniel Epstein wrote in the court filing, according to the report.
“But notwithstanding the fact that the raid should have never occurred, Garland and Wray should have ensured their agents sought consent from President Trump, notified his lawyers, and sought cooperation,” it added. “Garland and Wray decided to stray from established protocol to injure President Trump.”
Epstein also addressed the lawsuit in a Fox Business interview.

The August 2022 FBI raid allegedly found multiple classified documents in Trump’s possession after leaving office.
Special Counsel Jack Smith was appointed to the case involving 37 felony charges against Trump. The 45th president pleaded not guilty to all charges.
In July, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the Mar-a-Lago case against Trump. She stated that Smith was unconstitutionally appointed to the case.
Trump previously stated that he was preparing for the lawsuit against the Justice Department.
“Somebody please explain to Rep. James Clyburn, not the brightest bulb in the House, that I am beating the Biden/Harris Prosecutors, like Deranged Jack Smith, whose case against me in Florida, ‘the biggest of them all’ according to the Radical Left Lunatics, was just ‘thrown out’ as being Unconstitutional,” Trump posted to Truth Social on July 24.
“Now it is my time to sue them for illegally breaking into, and raiding, Mar-a-Lago. All of these Biden/Harris cases against me are a Weaponization of Justice against their Political Opponent, Me — Strictly Third World Country. MAGA2024!” he added.
