Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney may be facing a criminal investigation over “witness tampering” while serving as Vice Chair on the Jan. 6 Select Committee.
President Donald Trump commented on the situation in a post on Truth Social, early Wednesday morning. He wrote, “Liz Cheney could be in a lot of trouble based on the evidence obtained by the subcommittee, which states that ‘numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney, and these violations should be investigated by the FBI.’”
According to The Federalist, House Republicans recommended Cheney for a criminal investigation in a report released Tuesday. This claimed, “Evidence uncovered by the Subcommittee revealed that former Congresswoman Liz Cheney tampered with at least one witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, by secretly communicating with Hutchinson without Hutchinson’s attorney’s knowledge.”
“This secret communication with a witness is improper and likely violates 18 U.S.C. 1512. Such action is outside the due functioning of the legislative process and therefore not protected by the Speech and Debate clause,” the report added.
The 130-page report was headed by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., and stated, “Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats spent millions of taxpayer dollars on their politically motivated Select Committee yet failed to accurately, and in a bipartisan manner, investigate the security failures of that day.”
“Instead, the members of the Select Committee were laser-focused on their effort to promote their false, pre-determined narrative that President Trump was personally responsible for the breach of the Capitol on January 6 and should therefore be held accountable, by any means necessary,” it continues.
The report accuses former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, and her Select Committee of displaying political bias after cherry-picking information and even falsifying evidence in order to frame President Donald Trump for “inciting violence” on Jan. 6, 2021.
Despite having served as a Republican leader, Cheney played a major role in this two year Committee endeavor. She decried President Trump on multiple occasions and accused him of creating an armed mob.

The events of Jan. 6 have been highly publicized and vilified for over three years now, but back in March of 2023, RSBN reported that new video footage displayed police escorting protesters through the Capitol building.
Political commentator Tucker Carlson first reported on the footage on Fox News, stating, “Taken as a whole, the video record does not support the claim that January 6 was an insurrection. In fact, it demolishes that claim, and that’s exactly why the Democratic Party and its allies in the media prevented you from seeing it.”
