Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., has begun a battle with the Pentagon over abortion funding. Tuberville argued in an interview with Just the News this week that the Biden administration has weakened the United States military through social engineering and too much appeasement of China.
In a post on X, Tuberville summarized his view of the ongoing battle between him and the Biden administration’s “liberal and woke policies [as]the real threat to military readiness.” He believes liberal policies, such as paying for abortions of military personnel, are hurting America’s ability to take on aggressive world powers like China. Tuberville also said he is “trying to keep politics out of the military by standing for the Constitution.”
Furthermore, Tuberville defended his position regarding China as a serious threat citing recent incidents involving Chinese aggression against the U.S. One of these incidents the senator alludes to is the recent sighting of a Chinese spy balloon over the United States.
According to Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, the spy balloon did not successfully collect or return any data back to Beijing. However, Ryder made clear the fact the Department of Defense was aware of the balloon’s data collection capabilities and took steps to mitigate it before it became a more serious issue.
In addition, another incident of Chinese aggression involves the arrests of two people who allegedly operated a secret police station on behalf of the Chinese government out of New York City’s Chinatown district.
Lu Jianwang and Chen Jinping have been charged with crimes of conspiracy against the United States on behalf of the Chinese government, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
It is also worth noting Breon Peace, the U.S. Attorney for this office, says China’s Ministry of Public Security has “repeatedly and flagrantly violated our nation’s sovereignty, including opening and operating a police station in the middle of New York City.” Peace also pointed out that if the NYPD repeated the action in Beijing, it would be “unthinkable.”
