White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt answered questions on Tuesday from some very special Americans during a fun mock press briefing in Washington to celebrate “National Bring Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day.”
The briefing was preceded by a special event in the Kennedy Garden, where First Lady Melania Trump did arts and crafts with children of the members of the press.
Tuesday’s press briefing was comprised of very young children who asked fun and astute questions, bringing smiles to the press secretary and the assembled media in the room.

“I’m so excited to host this briefing today in honor of ‘National Bring Your Kids to Work Day’ and it’s great to see so many future leaders here,” Leavitt said.
She gave the children a short update on what the president accomplished so far on Tuesday, including a meeting at Capitol Hill with GOP lawmakers and his plans to deliver remarks with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in the afternoon.
“You have some very special parents who perform a very special job, and we are here to make America great again,” Leavitt said.
Here are the kids’ cutest questions and Leavitt’s answers.
Does President Trump like to give hugs?
“I think he does, I’ve seen him give many hugs,” Leavitt said.
What is the most fun and the most difficult part of being press secretary?
“I think the most fun part about my job is doing things like this with all of you,” Leavitt said with a smile. She added, “The hardest part of my job is also doing things like this in the briefing room and answering these questions.”

She also said that “reading the news” and keeping abreast of events was a “big part of my job.”
What is President Trump’s favorite food?
Leavitt said she believed Trump’s favorite dish is a “big, beautiful steak.”
What is the state of the border?
One very sharp young gentleman sporting a black “Gulf of America” hat posed this question. “I can assure you the border is the most secure it has ever been in the history of our country,” Leavitt said.
How many people has President Trump fired?
This question drew plenty of chuckles from the media. Leavitt noted that “thus far, actually, we have not had anyone fired with the exception of one individual who did leave their job…we have a great team here – so far so good!”
What is the president’s favorite ice cream and what would his superpower be if he had one?
Leavitt said she had seen the president eat “ice cream sundaes” with chocolate sauce and toppings. As for the topic of a potential superpower, Leavitt guessed that Trump would probably want the power to “just snap his fingers and solve all of our country’s problems just like that because he likes to get things done very quickly.”
Who is President Trump’s favorite soccer player?
Leavitt said she didn’t know, but she assured the children that the president loves soccer and all sports in general.
Does Trump leave the country every week?
No, he does not. But Leavitt pointed out that he did indeed take a long international trip last week to the Middle East. “Most weeks he’s right here at the White House working very hard,” she said.
Who is Trump’s favorite president besides himself?
Leavitt said it was probably President George Washington. She added, “I know he speaks very highly of George Washington…and he has his big, beautiful portrait hanging in the Oval Office.”
What is it like to have a baby and be the press secretary – and what advice does Leavitt have for other young women who want to pursue their dreams?
Leavitt said it was a “challenge” to have a young child and work in the White House, but noted how much her husband and mother do to help her. “You have to learn to prioritize your time,” she said. “…You can do it, you just have to work very hard.”
On the subject of advice, Leavitt continued, “My best advice would be to work as hard as you possibly can and pursue every new opportunity that is given to you. Just work, work, work, as hard as you can.”
What is the president’s religion?
“The president is a Christian – he believes in Jesus,” said Leavitt.
