WWE icon and personality Hulk Hogan has passed away at the age of 71, according to multiple reports.
The bright and powerful Hogan, whose personality and love for pro-wrestling were apparent throughout his career, reportedly passed away at his Florida home this week, potentially after suffering from cardiac arrest, Fox Sports reported. However, the cause of Hogan’s death has not been confirmed.
WWE released this statement on Thursday morning after the sad news broke:
“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.
Hogan most recently garnered attention for appearing at the 2024 Republican National Convention and delivering a speech at Madison Square Garden last fall in support of President Donald Trump’s candidacy.
“Hulk Hogan was a genuine, uniquely American creation. Fearlessly original. Flawed but unbowed. He had the courage to stand on his own principles, and he never stopped fighting for his country,” wrote Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk on X.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., added to the sentiment online, writing, “RIP to the great Hulk Hogan, who lived right here in FL-13. It was an honor to be your Representative. Gone, but the legend of Hulkamania will run wild forever.”
Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson added, “We all have fond memories of @HulkHogan. From my childhood in the ‘80s, to campaigning with him last year, I always saw him as a giant in stature and in life. May he rest in peace.”
“R.I.P. to a legend,” wrote Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump.
