American traditions are being truly celebrated this holiday season. Christmas cheer is in the air, and it has brought people back out to enjoy all the magic of the most wonderful time of the year.

My family and I spent yet another Thanksgiving enjoying the American spirit in Wisconsin. My husband is from Green Bay, and I am from St. Louis. We are midwesterners to our core.
Living in Missouri, we take the 500-mile trip through the heart of the country multiple times a year, but there is nothing like the holidays in Wisconsin. No milk tastes fresher. No land is more beautiful. No sky is clearer. But most of all, the snow is as pure and white as the clouds that sail through the blue above.
This year has been especially wonderful. The meal was incredibly unifying as we enjoyed the blessings of family and the ability to feed them well, thanks to lower grocery rates. Then Black Friday shopping reminded me of my childhood. We lined up outside of Fleet Farm at 3:30 a.m. with all the other people ready to brave the winds and the lines for some festive shopping.
Everyone was polite and friendly, even though the crowds were bigger than I’d seen in years. Bay Park Mall (yes, the mall still exists) was packed, with plenty of deals on goodies. The economy is recovering, but best of all, so is the American spirit.
While shoppers who chose to stay home set a record, spending $11.8 billion, the White House was preparing to deck the halls, leading the way into a winter wonderland. First Lady Melania Trump released a gorgeous video on Dec. 1 displaying America’s Christmas. Her focus this year is to remind us that “Home is where the heart is.”
This is displayed in the video as she tenderly walks through the White House and marvels at the beauty of Christmas traditions. She wrote, “This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with endless possibilities.”

AMERICA’S CHRISTMAS
This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with endless possibilities. pic.twitter.com/VouZAtLpHU
The possibilities are truly endless. My family and I returned home to snow as if it followed us from “the frozen tundra” to make our season bright. I love snow. I usually decorate our yard before Thanksgiving, just in case winter moves in fast. There’s always that hope for a White Christmas, but this year I didn’t because it usually doesn’t happen. So I got to decorate in the beautiful snowflakes from heaven.
Like many Americans, my family loves decorating a live tree to spread Yuletide cheer both inside and out. Christmas tree rates have been climbing in recent years, but there’s even a fix for that. The Trump administration is reducing Christmas tree permit fees to “Make Christmas Affordable Again.”
The U.S. Department of the Interior is slashing permits to $1 per tree, a massive savings that is expected to cut fees by $10 million across the nation, giving families like mine the ability to save on a live tree immediately.
However you celebrate, this is the year to do it with style. American Christmas is back, putting Americans and their customs first. The warmth of the season is spreading all around, and we can all celebrate as our parents and grandparents did.
