While the magic and the music of the season warm our hearts this year, Americans have received another special gift: First Lady Melania Trump’s beautiful example of the giving spirit.
She has shared the blessings of Christmas every day this December. From simple online posts wishing everyone love and joy, to the many charity events she has already volunteered for, our First Lady has embodied the hopes for “peace on earth and goodwill toward men.” Her example shows that although politics often plays a major role in our lives, it need not dampen the brightest days.

Whether assembling care packages for American soldiers, reading to young patients at the Children’s National Hospital, or supporting the Toys for Tots charity, her efforts and care remind us that simple acts of kindness can make a world of difference.

It has been especially refreshing to see the heartfelt videos Melania has posted to social media.

AMERICA’S CHRISTMAS
This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with endless possibilities. pic.twitter.com/VouZAtLpHU
Her Dec. 1 post introducing her focus on celebrating America’s Christmas displayed a hopeful anticipation of what this season can bring in a way that rivals even the best Christmas movies. Seeing the White House decorations in all their grandeur is awe-inspiring, as is her wish that “This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us.”

The day after celebrating the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, she wished everyone a good morning. She posted a gentle video highlighting snow falling around the wreaths at the White House. The soft music seemed to embody the magic of the season and the power of stopping to marvel at the simple pleasures of life, like snowfall.

And who can resist a simple peek of the First Lady walking along with Santa Claus? After all, Jolly Old St. Nicholas embodies the spirit of giving in ways that only children can fully understand.
Home truly is where the heart is this holiday season, with Melania Trump displaying all that Americans can and do share. Spreading that gentle grace fills us all with love and joy, and leads us into a New Year with many hopes ahead.
