The White House launches a website to help Americans struggling with substance abuse locate and access treatment in an effort to fight the nationwide epidemic.
The website was unveiled on Wednesday, located at findtreatment.gov, and is aimed at helping those who struggle with addiction locate help.
Those using the site can search based upon their insurance, location, and treatment type to make sure they are receiving help at convenient centers within the parameters of their insurance.
White House Adviser Kellyanne Conway touted the latest effort to fight the epidemic saying, “Too often people will just type into a search bar, need treatment… For years, if not decades, there has been an insufficient response to such a search.”
Conway continued by saying, “We know that the drug crisis is indiscriminate, so we want the response to be indiscriminate.”
There are options which can customize searches based on payment options and whether the prospective patient wants medication-based treated.
There are also options to explore treatment options which specifically focus on children, veterans, and members of the LGBTQ community struggling with addiction.
The White House manages the platform, which provides thousands of certified medical providers across the country.
The website was built with feedback from those struggling with substance abuse, their families, and various providers.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 70,000 people died as a result of a drug overdose- most of which involved opioids.
