Amidst many international negotiations, President Donald Trump announced a new trade deal with Indonesia on Tuesday, as he seeks to preserve the values of America First commerce on the global stage.
“Great deal, for everybody, just made with Indonesia,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump said he “dealt directly” with Indian President Narendra Modi for these negotiations and promised that more details would soon follow on this agreement.
The forthcoming trade deal with Indonesia marks another significant win for Trump’s administration as it moves forward on record-breaking tariff revenue amid reinvigorated trade policies with foreign nations.
Earlier this year, Trump inked a massive trade agreement with the United Kingdom, thanks to the cooperation of UK Prime Minister Keri Starmer. As reported by RSBN, this agreement was focused mainly on expediting market access for American exports, particularly for American agriculture.
The president also sealed a major trade deal with Vietnam in early July, granting Americans tariff-free access to the country’s markets, per RSBN.
This spring, Trump also notched hundreds of billions of dollars of investment into the U.S. from Middle Eastern countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia following a highly successful international trip to the region.
Since taking office, President Trump has additionally incentivized countless major companies to invest in the domestic United States by utilizing tariffs as a baseline policy to drive these economic commitments. In fact, the U.S. Treasury Department reported that June saw just over $26 billion roll in via tariff revenue (customs duties), eclipsing May’s $22.2 billion, per Yahoo Finance.
The president has been very clear that the days of America being “ripped off” are over under his administration. “Countries should sit back and say, ‘Thank you for the many year’s long free ride, but we know you now have to do what’s right for America,’” Trump remarked this week.
He added, “We should respond by saying, ‘Thank you for understanding the situation we are in. Greatly appreciated!’”
