President Donald Trump’s campaign announced on Sunday plans to “barnstorm” battleground states during the Democratic National Convention (DNC) this week.
The statement focused on the “failed record” of Vice President Kamala Harris as she celebrates her nomination as the Democratic presidential candidate in Chicago.
“At the DNC, Kamala Harris will hide behind celebrities because everyday families know that she has been an absolute disaster for our nation, and real Americans are worse off now than four years ago,” Trump Campaign Senior Advisors Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles said in the statement.
“Harris has failed to answer media questions for 28 days because she can’t explain away her record of supporting policies that cause inflation, bans on private health insurance, destroying American energy, and higher taxes,” they added.
In contrast, Trump and running mate JD Vance will travel to multiple locations this week to address voters and the media on key issues of importance to voters.
“As they meet Americans where they are in battleground states across the country, President Trump and Senator Vance will remind voters that under their leadership, we can end inflation, protect our communities from violent criminals, secure the border, and Make America Great Again,” the statement continued.
Monday, Trump will host an economic and energy event in York, Pennsylvania. Vance will host a similar event in Philadelphia.
On Tuesday, Trump is scheduled to host a crime and safety event in Detroit, Michigan, while Vance is set to host an event in neighboring Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Wednesday, Trump will travel for a national security event in Asheboro, North Carolina, with Trump allies hosting a press conference in Chicago.
Thursday and Friday, Trump will be in Arizona where he will visit the border and host a rally in Glendale. Vance will host an immigration event on Thursday in Valdosta, Georgia.
Key Trump allies are also hosting events in battleground states throughout the week, covering issues such as the economy, crime, national security, immigration and “no tax on tips.”
Trump’s efforts seek to help alleviate the “suffering” of Americans under Biden-Harris.
“President Trump elevated the stories of everyday Americans who are suffering directly because of Kamala Harris’ failures. As he demonstrated tremendous strength and resolve following an attempt on his life, President Trump’s convention focused on the policies and leadership to which Americans are desperate to return,” the statement noted.
