54% of Americans don’t believe Biden has the mental sharpness to be president

As Joe Biden enters his second year in office, Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of his job performance. And what’s more concerning for the Biden administration, Americans are questioning his mental sharpness.

A recent Washington Post-ABC Poll— both considered left-wing outlets— found that 54 percent of Americans don’t believe that Biden has the mental sharpness it takes to be president. And only 40 percent believe he does.

The last time that question was asked by the same polling outlets in May 2020, 51 percent of Americans believed that Biden possessed the mental sharpness to be president.

However, that was before Biden moved into the White House. Now that Biden is a month into his second year, Americans have seen Biden’s job performance and changed their minds.

In a January press conference to mark his first anniversary in office, Biden was asked by Newsmax’s James Rosen why he felt Americans had doubts about his mental capacity.

Biden responded by saying, “I’ll let you all make the judgment.” He later added that he has “no idea” why so many Americans have concerns over his cognitive ability.

Concerns about Biden’s mental health have caused Republicans such as North Carolina Rep. Madison Cawthorn and Florida Sen. Rick Scott to broach the idea of invoking the 25th amendment of the Constitution to remove Biden from office.

Last August, Cawthorn said the following:

“President Biden’s physical inability to lead is not a political talking point; it is a demonstrable fact. Our president is not mentally fit to serve as president of these United States. I truly believe he is unable to discharge the duties of the office he holds. That is why today I sent letters to each member of the president’s cabinet and to the vice president asking that they invoke the 25th Amendment of the United States Constitution and remove Joe Biden from his office.”

Following Biden’s widely criticized Afghanistan withdrawal, Sen. Scott tweeted, “After the disastrous events in Afghanistan, we must confront a serious question: is Joe Biden capable of discharging the duties of his office, or has the time come to exercise the provisions of the 25th Amendment?”

If he fails to show Americans that he is cognitive enough to handle the new Russia-Ukraine conflict, the polls will only get worse for Biden. And with November’s midterm elections approaching, his impairments could spell disaster for the Democrat Party.
