A Trump campaign political director expressed confidence about President Donald Trump’s victory in November as the election stands just over two months away.
James Blair, the Trump campaign’s political director, shared the statement in a Tuesday report from the Associated Press.
“As we move past Labor Day, we will really get into the time where voters start to harden their opinions,” Blair said.
“We feel pretty good about things. We feel energized. Our people are energized. But there’s certainly plenty of work to be done,” he continued.
Many polls show a statistical tie between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in the seven swing states that are vital for a victory. The seven states are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
“I always felt Labor Day was going to be about the time … the Kamala sugar high starts burning off,” Jason Roe, a Republican strategist and former executive director of the state GOP in Michigan, told Politico on Tuesday. “It’s gone on for too long, and there’s not a lot more left to propel it.”
The latest Rasmussen Reports poll shows Harris up by one point nationwide. On Aug. 15, Trump was up by 10 points in a race that then included Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at 4 percent.
Despite the shift toward Harris in recent polling, the margin of error of 5 points shows a statistical tie. The seven swing states are expected to make the difference in who wins the electoral vote.
The largest of the swing states is Pennsylvania, with 20 electoral votes. Both Trump and Harris continue to make multiple visits to the Keystone State.
The one confirmed presidential debate is also set for Sept. 10 in Philadelphia. In addition, Trump will share a town hall in Pennsylvania with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday. Georgia, with 16 electoral votes, also remains a campaign hotspot. Harris recently held her first interview with CNN in the Peach State. Biden won Georgia’s electoral vote in a controversial contest in 2020, while Trump won the state in 2016.
