A staggering majority of GOP voters in the U.S. today would love to see a change of leadership at the Republican National Committee, with a new poll from Trafalgar Group finding that 86 percent of 1,072 respondents are on board with electing RNC Chair candidate Harmeet Dhillon.

The poll, conducted in partnership with the Convention of States Action (COS), also found that the current RNC chair, Ronna McDaniel, only managed to net 14 percent of support in her bid to maintain her position.

“The era of the status quo Republican Party is over whether those clinging onto power realize it yet or not,” Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk commented on the news on Twitter.

According to a report from the Daily Caller, incumbent Ronna McDaniel has served as the RNC chairwoman since 2017 and is now running for her fourth term in office. However, she appears to have met her match with Dhillon, who leads the Republican Lawyers Association.

In an op-ed written for Townhall, Dhillon explained that the election for RNC Chairman in January “will be a referendum on two of the Republican Party’s foundational ideals: personal responsibility and accountability. After six years of losses and increasingly alienated voting and donor bases demanding change, our party needs fresh leadership, new vision, and fundamental changes to fulfill our promise to stakeholders.”

In December 2022, MyPillow CEO and election integrity advocate Mike Lindell announced that he was also throwing his hat into the ring to run for the position. As reported by RSBN, Lindell wrote in his campaign announcement, “The Republican Party needs leadership in modern technology, on election insecurities, and on supporting our incredible grassroots candidates across the country. I have that knowledge and I am already engaged with all 50 states doing this work without the title.”

The election for RNC chair will take place on Jan. 27.
