U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland will face questions from the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday in a hearing that will look at the alleged weaponization and politicization of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
On X, Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif., confirmed that he would be questioning AG Garland. He wrote, “On Wednesday I will question Attorney General Merrick Garland at a House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing. There is a lot of ground to cover.”
Rep. Kiley is a member of the House Judiciary Committee. Last month, he sent a letter to AG Garland that pressured him to withdraw “his infamous memo mobilizing federal law enforcement and counter-terrorism resources against American parents.”
This type of alleged weaponization and politicization of federal agencies will be the subject of Garland’s testimony on Wednesday.
In June, NBC reported that the attorney general would testify in front of the committee in September, with House members poised to ask him questions about DOJ investigations related to the Biden family and President Donald Trump.
Over the past year, the House Oversight Committee and House Judiciary Committee have spearheaded investigations related to allegations of criminality surrounding Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
The Washington Examiner pointed out in a report earlier this year that Garland’s scheduled testimony came amidst developing information over the summer from IRS whistleblowers who alleged that the DOJ blocked charges from being filed against Hunter Biden in an ongoing investigation.
The DOJ and the FBI have come under intense scrutiny over the past few years, especially in the wake of the FBI’s shocking and unprecedented raid on President Donald Trump’s home, Mar-a-Lago, in Florida last August.
