Numerous reports have surfaced this week that at least 50 United States senators have been issued satellite phones that would aid in their communication in the event of a natural or manmade disaster.
This issuance has sounded the alarm for some Americans who are concerned that a potential cyber attack may be imminent, especially as U.S. relations with China and Russia have grown increasingly rocky.
According to The Western Journal, just over 50 of today’s 100 U.S. senators took advantage of the phones, which were dispensed by Senate Sergeant at Arms Karen Gibson.
Conservative commentator Rogan O’Handley commented on the situation on Twitter, noting, “Many are worried a cyber attack prior to the 2024 election would be used to justify changes in voting procedures that will benefit Joe Biden[.] Today we learned that US Senators are being issued special satellite phones for this exact scenario[.] Not good[.]”
According to a report from CBS, Gibson stated that the satellite phones were a “security backstop” in case a disruptive event were to potentially terminate communication channels in America.
This disturbing turn of events comes as the world is perched on the verge of global conflict as Russia continues its aggressive incursion into Ukraine. “The way the U.S. is going, we will soon be in World War lll, with NO AMMUNITION!” President Donald Trump commented in April.
Chillingly, RSBN previously reported that the U.S. appears to be careering toward conflict on the global stage as the Chinese Communist Party has reportedly begun secretly supporting Russia with lethal aid in their push against Ukraine.
Per The Western Journal, there is no verifiable reason for the U.S. government or military to believe that a cyber attack is imminent at this time.
