President Donald Trump will face the scourge of the New York justice system in full for the next several weeks as the infamous “hush money” trial has now kicked off, and on Monday, the president lit up the press with fiery comments eviscerating what he described on Saturday as “communist show trials.”

“This is an ASSAULT on America,” Trump stated outside the courtroom. “Nothing like this has ever happened before. There’s never been anything like it. Every legal scholar says this case is nonsense, it should never have been brought…there IS NO CASE.”

He continued, “This is an outrage that this case was brought. This is political persecution – this is a persecution like never before. Nobody’s ever seen anything like it…it’s an assault on America, and that’s why I’m very proud to be here. This is an assault on our country, and it’s a country that’s failing. It’s a country that’s run by an incompetent man who’s very much involved in this case.”

Trump described the trial as an “attack on a political opponent” and said he was “honored” to be in court despite the political persecution kick-started by, he believes, the Biden administration and his “henchmen.”

On Truth Social, the president pointed out that the timing of this case coincided perfectly with the 2024 general election cycle. He wrote, “Why didn’t they bring this totally discredited lawsuit 7 years ago??? Election Interference!”

In the criminal case, Trump is facing 34 felony charges related to allegedly falsifying business records during his 2016 presidential campaign. As previously reported by RSBN, the criminal case could last up to eight weeks, and Monday marked the first day of the trial and the critical point of jury selection.

Trump is also under an expanded gag order in the trial. He recently attacked presiding Judge Juan Merchan for having “TDS,” or “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” over the weekend at a Pennsylvania rally. On Monday, Trump derided the gag order on Truth Social, writing, “I want my VOICE back. This Crooked Judge has GAGGED me. Unconstitutional! The other side can talk about me, but I am not allowed to talk about them! Rigged Trial!”
