Steve Bannon, the former White House advisor to President Donald Trump and host of “War Room” on Real America’s Voice, held nothing back when it came to commenting on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s (R) recent international political tour that garnered worldwide attention.
As reported by Newsweek, Bannon stated:
“They sent you on what was a humiliating tour of the world. South Korea, Japan, Israel. Then this humiliation in England where the prime minister would not meet with you. And you had this meeting with the top people in the financial community and the top corporations in London, what’s called the City of London, it was humiliating. The political story was a humiliation to you. You’re just not ready for the scale you need to be ready for.”
DeSantis, who has not yet announced a 2024 bid for the presidency, has largely been expected to do so this year after the close of the Florida legislative session. However, there has been no confirmation yet that this will happen.
According to Politico, DeSantis’s national and international tour stops may have been funded by taxpayer money, although the governor’s office has denied these allegations. Per their report, Florida State Rep. Jeff Holcomb (R) is currently sponsoring a bill in the State House that would block DeSantis’s travel records from being publicly viewed. The reason? Alleged security concerns.
President Donald Trump has been harsh in his criticism of the Florida governor, lambasting DeSantis for his decision to tour the country and the globe, calling it an “emergency Round the World tour” to “remove the stain from his failing campaign.”
He continued, “Bad poll numbers! Perhaps he can, and perhaps he can’t, who really knows, but he’ll have plenty of time to think as he sits alone, on his tax payer funded airplane, riding it out and thinking, WHY???”
Although it’s still early in the GOP primary season, Trump has handily dominated the playing field so far in political polling. A mainstream poll from CBS, for example, even demonstrated a 36-point lead for Trump against DeSantis in a 2024 GOP primary.
