President Donald Trump reacted Tuesday night after Republicans passed a Continuing Resolution to avoid a looming government shutdown.

The president spoke favorably of the move just ahead of the March 14 deadline.

“Big WIN for Republicans, and America, tonight. Congratulations to ALL!!!” he wrote on Truth Social.

The Tuesday resolution passed with all Republicans supporting the measure except Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky. All Democrats but one opposed the resolution.

Trump blasted Massie in a social media post due to the congressman’s lack of GOP support.

“Congressman Thomas Massie, of beautiful Kentucky, is an automatic ‘NO’ vote on just about everything, despite the fact that he has always voted for Continuing Resolutions in the past. HE SHOULD BE PRIMARIED, and I will lead the charge against him. He’s just another GRANDSTANDER, who’s too much trouble, and not worth the fight. He reminds me of Liz Cheney before her historic, record breaking fall (loss!). The people of Kentucky won’t stand for it, just watch,” Trump wrote.

To become law, the resolution must pass among 60 of the nation’s 100 senators and be signed by the president. Republicans hold 53 Senate seats, meaning that at least seven Democrats must join the GOP to pass it.

House Speaker Mike Johnson called out Democrats over the party’s lack of support, arguing that they opposed government shutdowns in the past but now refuse to work together for the American people.

“Democrats have railed against government shutdowns.   But now they’re supporting one. What’s changed? They’re willing to do ANYTHING to stop President Trump from implementing his agenda,” Johnson posted to X.

Vice President JD Vance was on Capitol Hill Tuesday to work with GOP lawmakers to find a path forward to pass a bill, noting Republicans would take the blame if a shutdown occurs. A separate bill may be sought as an alternative to get an agreement through the Senate, according to some reports.

Lawmakers are likely to continue pushing for an agreement until the midnight deadline on March 14.
