The Albuquerque Police Officers’ Association announced that it is endorsing President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
The blue state law enforcement group shared the news in a press release that was posted to the Trump campaign website on Thursday.
“President Trump has consistently shown unwavering support for our police officers, advocating for policies that protect and empower those who serve on the front lines. His commitment to law and order, coupled with his dedication to funding law enforcement initiatives, has provided our officers with the tools and resources necessary to serve and protect,” said Shaun Willoughby, President of the Albuquerque Police Officers’ Association.
“We believe that President Trump’s proven track record and strong leadership make him the best candidate to address the challenges facing our nation,” he added.
The Trump campaign expressed appreciation for the support and blasted Vice President Kamala Harris over her border and crime policies impacting New Mexico.
“Dangerously liberal Kamala Harris has let the people of Albuquerque down with her failed policies as “Border Czar” and capitulation to violent criminals. Harris supports eliminating cash bail and ending mandatory minimum sentences, and she has praised the “defund the police” movement, saying the movement “rightly” called out the amount of money spent on police departments instead of community services,” a campaign statement claimed.
“Under her failed leadership, murders in Albuquerque are up 24 percent this year compared to the same period in 2019, and fentanyl deaths in Albuquerque rose nearly 58 percent between 2020 and 2021 as Harris loosened restrictions at the southern border,” it added.
The Albuquerque Police Officers’ Association joins dozens of law enforcement organizations supporting Trump for president.
Other major police associations supporting his campaign include the National Fraternal Order of Police, National Association of Police Organizations, Arizona Police Association, Milwaukee Police Association, Las Vegas Police Protective Association and Police Officers Association of Michigan.
RSBN previously reported on the support of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) when it announced that its members voted to endorse Trump.
The organization shared the news in a press release on Friday that was also reposted on Trump’s X account.
“Our presidential endorsement process is thorough and inclusive, involving over 377,000 members across the nation. Today, it’s a privilege to announce that the collective will of our members has led us to endorse Donald J. Trump for President,” the FOP wrote on X.
