A California congressional candidate has won his race for the GOP, securing another seat in the House for the Republican Party. According to Fox News, Republican John Duarte won his race for California Congressional District 13 early this month, edging out his Democrat challenger Adam Gray.
Before Duarte won his race, Congressman-elect Kevin Kiley had previously secured a majority for Republicans in the House of Representatives, as reported by RSBN.
Per Just the News, the GOP is now on track to net 221 seats in the House in 2023 now that Duarte has clinched victory in his congressional election.
Duarte is a farmer and businessman who advocated for simple and straightforward conservative policy approaches during his campaign. Per his website, the congressman-elect promised to prioritize the needs of Central California families who were hurting for water and being crushed under the burden of rising house and food prices in the Golden State.
Per Duarte’s website:
“Washington politicians are taking our water, raising prices on everything, and slapping unfair laws on small business owners. They are making it harder to find a good-paying job, harder to open a small business, and harder to get ahead. As a local farmer and businessman, I know what it’s like to build a business from scratch and to hit some bumps along the way. I know that if we make sure we have lower prices, more water, and fairer laws, we’ll have good-paying Valley jobs for everyone.”
Following House Republicans’ victory in reclaiming the majority in D.C., Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., announced that she would not be seeking reelection as Democrat leader in the House, as previously reported by RSBN.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., is in a position to become the next Speaker of the House if he can secure enough votes in 2023.
