CHAOS: Flood of migrants attempt to rush port of entry in El Paso, Texas

by Summer Lane

At least 1,000 migrants have attempted to rush the Paso Del Norte Bridge in El Paso, Texas, in their efforts to illegally enter the United States, online videos from Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin have revealed.

On Twitter, Melugin wrote, “BREAKING: Our contact in Juarez, MX tells us a massive group of at least 1,000 migrants just attempted to rush a port of entry in El Paso in an effort to get into the United States. Video shows them pushing past the Mexican side of Paso Del Norte bridge. Awaiting CBP comment.”

The video shows a crowd of hundreds of people attempting to push through the port of entry. Melugin noted on Sunday night that his contact in Juarez, Mexico, reported that a “chunk of the group was repelled, and is now gathering at a smaller bridge, while some are trying to cross in the river.”

Several hours after videos of the incident surfaced, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released a statement, via Bill Melugin: “The CBP response included the deployment of physical barriers to restrict entry. As of 5 pm there is no traffic processing occurring at PDN. There were also temporary disruptions at two other crossings because of appearance of groups of migrants. Barricades were used at the Stanton crossing from 2 p.m. until 2:45 pm and at the Bridge of the Americas from 2:45 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.”

Live cameras showed shots of both before and after the efforts to disperse the migrants:

CBP agents were shown on video wearing crowd control gear and standing behind physical barriers and barbed wire. On the Mexican side of the barriers, the Mexican military assembled a small show of force, as well.

The crisis at the southern border has continued to escalate since 2021.

According to RSBN, the number of migrant encounters at the border rose to 2.3 million. However, President Donald Trump told RSBN’s Brian Glenn in February that he believed that as many as 15 million people have illegally crossed America’s borders in the last two years.
