Colorado fumbled the ball in September when the secretary of state’s office sent roughly 30,000 voter registration postcards to noncitizens, according to a report from the Associated Press.

According to Secretary of State Jena Griswold’s office, the postcards were mailed out due to a “database glitch.” However, Griswold said that noncitizens would not be allowed to register to vote, per the outlet.

Additionally, the Daily Wire reported that a spokesperson for Griswold’s office stated that they would be “undertaking an internal review of the incident and will take any corrective action that is warranted.”

Secretary of State Griswold has claimed that Colorado is the “gold standard for fair and free access to voting.”

Further, the Associated Press pointed out that Colorado’s voter registration mailer error was likely tied to ERIC, the Electronic Registration Information Center that supposedly helps keep voter rolls clean and encourages people to vote.

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R) commented on the situation on Twitter, stating, “So since this is an ‘accident’ who is going to be held accountable and when? In the real world, we hold people accountable when they mess up!”

Griswold has found herself tangled up in issues of election integrity before, most prominently in her involvement in the situation of reported election irregularities in Mesa County, Colorado, with former County Clerk Tina Peters.

Griswold also previously informed the press that Mesa County’s election systems included “secret” passwords that could access the election servers outside of the county clerk’s office, as reported by RSBN.

Peters, who blew the whistle on alleged irregularities that she witnessed in the county’s election systems, stated in the documentary film, “[S]election Code,” that she thought she and her clerks were the only ones who had passwords to the system.

Colorado has also drawn attention to dubious election counting processes in El Paso County. RSBN reported that Dominion Voting Machines allegedly failed a logic and accuracy test ahead of a handful of June primary race recounts.
