Citizens of Michigan shared their concerns about the safety and security of their election system in the Great Lakes State, presenting stories of voting problems to the Michigan State Board of Canvassers this week.
One Michigander told the board, “I have serious issues here…everything that I’m about to say is on video…they ended up putting a name on the voter’s list to try to balance the book at the Board of Canvass.”
The witness was referring to Genessee County, per his testimony.
“Also, somebody voted that wasn’t registered in the state of Michigan,” he went on. “…They couldn’t find this person. And this person had the same ballot number as the other person – 143.”
He added to the Board of Canvassers, “If the election director would not sign off on what they were asking her to sign off on, why would you? If she knew it was a fraud…why would you sign off?”
Further, a second Flint, Michigan, resident offered testimony before the board that “27 out of 54 precincts were out of balance.”
According to a report from The Detroit News, the Michigan Board of State Canvassers voted to certify the state’s election results, despite the pleas of concerned voters. GOP Secretary of State nominee Kristina Karamo even made an appearance, highlighting unresolved reports of fraud and alleged corruption in the election system.
Per the outlet, Karamo stated, “The fraud in our elections – the corruption, the systemic corruption in our election system – touches all races. It just doesn’t touch statewide races. It touches our mayoral races. It touches our county commissioner races. And these individuals who we put into office make decisions over our lives.”
On Twitter, Karamo did not mince words about her thoughts on the board’s decision. “The Michigan State Board of Canvassers have no credibility,” she wrote. “Tony Daunt proceeds to insinuate that concerns shared during the hearing regarding the QVF aren’t credible and baseless. Corruption is Michigan’s biggest problem it doesn’t matter if there is an R or D by their name.”
Karamo has thrown her hat into the race to be the next chair of the Michigan Republican Party on the heels of her bid for secretary of state.
“I was born in Michigan; I will die in Michigan,” she said of her bid. “We will save our state from the Authoritarians calling themselves the Democratic Party.”
Michigan is one of several states plagued by reports of election irregularities or ballot-counting problems following the 2022 midterms. Other states in the mix include Texas, Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada.
