Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., shared details from President Donald Trump’s GOP meeting at Capitol Hill this week, which included the idea of ending the federal income tax.

Massie posted to X on Thursday, stating, “Trump briefly floated the concept of eliminating the income tax and replacing it with tariffs.”

He shared a graph showing how the federal income tax has grown throughout the nation’s history, which led conservatives to applaud this plan.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., confirmed support for this idea as well. She wrote, “I was thrilled to hear President Trump suggest we raise tariffs and reduce the income tax for Americans to zero as a new tax policy after the tax plan expires this year.”

She added, “This will really help struggling Americans get back on their feet after 4 bad years of Bidenomics.”

Podcast hosts The Hodgetwins called it a “game changer,” tagging the post under hashtag #taxationistheft.

Political Commentator Rogan O’Handley predicted, “This would create an economic boom the likes of which this country has never seen. Do it.”

President Trump’s Senior Advisor, Stephen Miller, addressed claims that the tariffs would be paid for by Americans.

He stated, “The Left has gone full globalist. Tariffs are taxes on foreign imports—make it in the USA, pay no tax.”

“The income tax and corporate tax are taxes on domestic production. Our country was built on a system that taxed foreign producers, not American workers or American producers,” he added.

President Trump has been a strong supporter of American industry with a specific focus on bringing back American-based manufacturing, per RSBN.

In addition, he recently promised to end the taxation of service workers’ tips.

RSBN reported that the 45th president said, “When I get into office we are going to not charge taxes on tips – people making tips.”

“It’s been a point of contention for years and years and years and you do a great job of service, you take care of people, and I think it’s going to be something that really is deserved,” he concluded.
