Conservatives celebrated Harvard President Claudine Gay’s decision to step down after downplaying antisemitism and facing a plagiarism scandal.
Writer and Hillsdale College teacher Christopher F. Rufo posted her resignation letter to X and stated, “Rather than take responsibility for minimizing antisemitism, committing serial plagiarism, intimidating the free press, and damaging the institution, she calls her critics racist.”
He added, “This is the poison of DEI ideology. Glad she’s gone.”
Political scientist Dr. Carol M. Swain noted, “I never expected #HarvardU and many scholars I once respected to attempt to redefine plagiarism because the ends justify the means in their sight.”
She called it a “sad day” and decried the advancement of “social engineering, diversity, equity, and inclusion (#DEI) goals.”
Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., wrote, “Claudine Gay’s morally bankrupt answers to my questions made history as the most viewed Congressional testimony in the history of the U.S. Congress.”
“Her answers were absolutely pathetic and devoid of the moral leadership and academic integrity required of the President of @Harvard,” she continued.
Then, she pledged, “Our robust Congressional investigation will continue to move forward to expose the rot in our most “prestigious” higher education institutions and deliver accountability to the American people.”
Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., simply stated, “Bye, Felicia!”
Despite this sentiment, Gay is not leaving the field or Harvard faculty. She is simply returning to a regular faculty position, per The Harvard Gazette.
In addition, the New York Post reported that she is expected to continue receiving her nearly $900,000 annual salary or potentially even more in her new position at the Cambridge, Massachusetts, facility.
