A Tesla cybertruck that exploded outside of the Trump hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday is being investigated as a possible terror attack.

The explosion occurred just about five hours after a terror incident in New Orleans early Wednesday that killed at least 15 people and injured dozens of others.

“[W]e’re tracking the explosion of a cyber truck outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas. Law enforcement and the intelligence community are investigating this as well, including whether there’s any possible connection with the attack in New Orleans. Thus far, there’s nothing to report on that score,” President Joe Biden said in remarks on Wednesday.

Las Vegas police said one person who was inside of the vehicle died from the explosion. Three other individuals were reportedly treated at a local hospital.

The incident took place in the valet area of the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas. Tesla CEO Elon Musk spoke out about the incident on X.

“The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken,” Musk wrote.

Musk also cited an account that revealed how the cybertruck’s safety features helped to minimize potential additional damage.

“Law Enforcement Officials are claiming that because the Suspect used a Tesla Cybertruck in their Attack earlier today against the Trump Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, which has 1.4mm Body Panels and 1.8mm Door Panels, the Explosion only caused Minimal Damage; with even the Windows of the Hotel Lobby, only Feet from the Truck, not having been Shattered. Officials state that most of the Blast was contained within the Vehicle, with the remainder having went up through the Roof instead of out from the Sides,” OSINT Defender’s X account stated in a post analyzing the explosion.
