Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ripped the Biden administration Saturday for what he described as a “failure in policy” on energy and the economy.

“They are intentionally reducing our ability to produce oil and gas here in the United States,” the governor told Fox News, noting that the U.S. is now turning to OPEC and Venezuela for oil.

“I guess Maduro’s oil isn’t global warming, but American is?” he scoffed. “I mean, it’s nonsense.”

On Wednesday, the Biden administration announced the cancelation of three oil-and-gas lease sales in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, per the New York Post.

The announcement coincided with the news that gas prices had soared to an all-time high – a situation that DeSantis noted had been hitting Americans particularly hard.

Adding that blame for the inflation plaguing the nation could largely be attributed to the current administration’s policy of “printing trillions and trillions of dollars,” the governor said Biden could easily reverse course but that he doubted that would happen.

“They don’t want us to be energy independent,” he contended. “And they don’t care if you suffer at the pump.”
