As Floridians weigh their choices ahead of the midterm elections, Gov. Ron DeSantis is “clearly favored” to win his reelection bid against Democrat challenger Charlie Crist.

Election forecaster FiveThirtyEight predicts that DeSantis is “clearly favored” to win the Sunshine State’s gubernatorial election. On Saturday, the pollster gave DeSantis a 96 in 100 chance of winning reelection, leaving Crist with just a four percent chance of success.

Five ThirtyEight gives Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis a 95 in 100 chance of winning the state’s gubernatorial race.

Furthermore, a Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy poll of 800 registered and ‘likely’ Florida voters surveyed in late September revealed that DeSantis carries a commanding lead over Crist, as reported by Florida Politics.

According to the poll data, over a majority of voters, 52 percent, voiced support for DeSantis in the state’s general election. Crist straggled behind at 41 percent. Six percent of voters are still considering voting for a third-party challenger, and one percent are undecided between the two candidates.

Additionally, the governor’s approval rating has significantly improved, reaching 55 percent, the highest since March 2019 and improving from February’s 53 percent, the outlet reported.

DeSantis also received a high job approval rating for his impressive leadership in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, which did catastrophic damage to the southwest coast of Florida.

An Economist/YouGov poll of 1,500 adults surveyed Oct. 1-4 indicated that 55 percent of respondents and 64 percent of likely voters approved of the governor’s response to the deadly hurricane.
