Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has raised a monstrous $100 million for his reelection campaign in 2022. According to a report from the Washington Examiner, he may be the first candidate in history to raise such a large sum of donations.
DeSantis, who is up for reelection in November, has been wildly popular with conservative voters in Florida, and many Americans have fled the restrictions of blue states to resettle in the Sunshine State, drawn by the governor’s unflinching leadership.
This has caused a “red voter” phenomenon, with Republican voters in Florida now outnumbering Democrats by just over 100,000. This has never happened before in Florida’s history.
In light of DeSantis’ overwhelming popularity among voters, Democrat opposition brought against him at the ballot box is unlikely to deter his momentum for reelection.
DeSantis’ strong stances on individual liberty and his willingness to take on the radical leftist policies of the Biden administration has earned him the loyalty of millions of potential Florida voters.
On Tuesday, Gov. DeSantis stated during a press conference, “Our rights come from God, not government.”
Further, DeSantis has been a champion for parental rights, moving to overhaul public education in Florida by eradicating classroom conversations centered on controversial topics like gender identity and sexual orientation for kindergarten through third grade (“Parental Rights in Education” Bill). He is also pushing for teaching children civics.
“We need to be focusing on teaching kids to read and write and math and science and understanding American history,” he stated this week.
There is a possibility that DeSantis could throw his hat into the ring in the 2024 presidential race. In light of the nationwide conservative support DeSantis has garnered, he would be an extremely strong contender for the office of the presidency if President Trump does not run.
